I saw a northern shrike in my fields again this morning. This makes the fifth
consecutive month that a shrike has found my ragged, shrubby fields, along the
power line easement an attractive habitat. The first shrike here was an immature,
then it left and was repleced by an adult. Makes all my efforts at keeping this acerage productive for
birds seem worth while, when I see it providing space for this scarce bird. (In Bainbridge,
on private property.)
