I wanted to follow up on the previous post from Conneaut. Today, the Conneuat sandspit was basically underwater. The drive is closed for a good reason. Water is as high as I have ever seen it. The areas for shorebirds are small but available. Best viewing is from the observation platform.
The nice thing is that you have to really want to go out there by walking about a half a mile. So no vehicles and only a few people and dogs. The birds are not being disturbed.
We did see the 3 Avocets, Short-billed Dowitchers, Semipalm plovers, Sanderlings, Least Sandpipers and Killdeer that were present. Also, 14 eagles were seen on the breakwalls and the Common Merg family consisted of 23 birds.
Good Birding,
Jeff Harvey
