I decided this afternoon that since the family went shopping and I cleaned
the whole house I was going birding despite the wind. I saw a pair of bald
eagles wrestling over the Sandusky River in Upper. At the Upper Reservoir
there were pied-billed grebes, buffleheads, ring-necked ducks, and ruddy
ducks. At Killdeer I had the same birds that were reported from this
morning, but I also had a small group of *Brewer's blackbirds* with 5
killdeer and some starlings on 77 between 123 and 108 (in wheat stubble on
the north side). Also at Killdeer was a meadowlark, great blue heron, and
mockingbird along with many bluebirds, harriers, and kestrals. At the pond
behind Guardian Industries was a lone snow goose with hundreds of Canada
geese. I stopped at Oak Hill Cemetery to check for the crossbill's return.
No luck. I had a group that were either goldfinches or house finches but I
didn't get a good look. It may be worth checking on a less windy day.
