This afternoon, about 4:30, I looked out at our feeders to see the first
red-winged blackbird (male) of the season sitting on the ground under one
of the tubes, next to a mourning dove.

This morning I heard my second killdeer of the season (the first was
February 1st), although Jane (my non-birding farmer wife) reports having
heard them a few times while I was in California between 2/1 and 2/13.

Spring is dropping hints...
