I had to work today but I got out for a quick walk early. I was treated to a small tree filled with singing Bay-breasted warblers which were busy gleaning and catching insects. There must’ve been at least seven birds in the single species flock.
I heard a few more warblers during my short walk: Yellow, Prairie, Blue-winged, Com YT, Tennessee plus Chat.
I’m hopeful the Prairie might be nesting as it’s been here about a month and continues to sing. There may be two birds or territories as I hear the song in two different parts of the reserve although obviously, birds fly.
White-eyed Vireo. Indigo Bunting. Field & Song sparrows. Tree Swallows. Wood Thrush.
My yard had Pileated WP, Tennessee Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak (male, first I’ve seen at my feeders this year) plus Orioles & Chimney Swifts tonight by the bike path.
