I stumbled on 2 of these elusive shorebirds in the last two days, which suggests a movement here. The first one was in the meadow at Whittier peninsula yesterday morning, while the second one was at the edge of the OSU Buckeye Swamp today at lunch. I don't often see them in the Fall, but there are records in central Ohio from years past that stretch all the way into December. We even have records from past Columbus CBCs, so they can survive fairly cold weather as long as the ground doesn't freeze. Anyone else out there notice woodcocks over the past week?
