This morning at Geauga Park District's The Rookery park, I had an excellent look at a male Lawrence's warbler. This bird, the rarer of the golden-winged x blue-winged warbler hybrids, was a life bird for me. It was found in edge habitat in the vicinity of the Great Blue Heron Lodge. The Rookery is located at the dead end of Cedar Road, west of Rockhaven Road in Munson Twp. The park address for MapQuesters is 10110 Cedar Road, Munson, OH 44026. It's song was decidedly blue-winged warbler.

Migrants abounded in this park today; highlights include parula, palm, chestnut-sided, yellow-rumped, yellow warbler; least and willow flycatcher, blue-headed and yellow-throated vireo, probable nesting brown creepers, veery, wood thrush, scarlet tanager, Baltimore oriole, rose-breasted grosbeak and a lone rusty blackbird among many redwings.

Dan Best, Naturalist - Geauga Park District.
