Sunday, January 17th.

Avon Lake Power Plant is in Lorain County in Avon Lake at the intersection
of Lake and Miller Roads.

Spectacular views yesterday. The warmer water from the plant has kept the
water near the pier unfrozen. The majority of the birds were staying in
the water and this allowed for very close up views. Some of the Redheads
and Canvasbacks were probably no farther than 20-25 feet away. So
beautiful.

Red Heads - 100+

Canvasbacks - 250+

Canadian Geese - 100+

Bufflehead - 12

Great Black Backed Gulls - 20+

Greater Scaups - 250+

Goldeneye - 2

I also visited Lakeview Cemetery to find the Crossbills. I've not been
there before and it was a beautiful area. I found the tree referenced by
Scott VanValkensburg. Great directions Scott. The ground was littered
with split pine cones, but no crossbills. That was around noon. Bummer.

E 55th was just as reported earlier. Lots of birds, but they were very far
out, even out of scope range. I didn't stay long.

I took a peek at the airport to see if the Snowy Owl was there. I didn't
see it.

Spencer
