*JUNE 01, 2018 - MONTHLY CUYAHOGA VALLEY TOWPATH CENSUS.*
*ROUTE*: Towpath Trail from Red Lock Trailhead south to Merriman Valley.
*TIME*: 5:40am - 3:50pm  *TEMP.*: 69 ~ 80
*COND.*: Foggy early, turning mostly sunny and humid; turning cloudy at
7:25am with a few overcast moments, light sprinkles from 12:55pm to 1:10pm,
but nothing amounting to rain; cloudy the rest of the hike and overcast to
the north.  *TRAIL COND.*: Good. The footbridge in Boston is now complete.
The three other footbridges between just south of Deep Lock (Lock 28) and
Furnace Run are still out. Took the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad tracks
from Deep Lock south to the where the tracks cross Riverview Rd., then
Riverview Rd. south to the construction access road just south of the
crossover, rejoining the Towpath Trail, then south to Furnace Run and
taking the Valley Trail around the Furnace Run footbridge construction
site, out to Riverview Rd. and through Szalay's Farm Market.  *RIVER COND.*:
Normal and a little muddy.
*FT.MI.*: 13.63  *OBS.*: John Henry & Douglas W. Vogus.

*I. MAMMALS*: 6 SPECIES.

   1. Eastern Cottontail - 1
   2. Eastern Chipmunk - 83
   3. Eastern Gray Squirrel - 1 (black morph)
   4. Eastern Fox Squirrel - 4
   5. Red Squirrel - 23
   6. White-tailed Deer - 4 (1 buck,3 doe)


*II. BIRDS*: 74 SPECIES, 1,112 TOTAL BIRDS.
(NOTE: m = male; f = female; ? = bird was seen but not sexed; * = bird was
heard calling but not sexed)
