Hello All,

This is just an update to note that Brooks Bird Club Foray reservations for 2018 by May 20, which is fast approaching! We have Greg Miller ("The Big Year") coming for two days to travel with us and do a program; and Bruce Beehler ("North On The Wing", from the Smithsonian) will be there for a day. Other programs will include WV forest service and DNR specialists, to discuss different ecological initiatives throughout the state, as well as a photography workshop and more.

We have trips to Spruce Knob, Sinks of Gandy, Blister Swamp, Gaudineer Knob, Pig's Ear, and Blister Pine Swamp, plus time to explore Pocahontas County on your own for birds, plants, butterflies, or whatever your interest is in nature.

This Foray location specializes in warblers and thrushes of the highlands, and bird lists for the week regularly include Blackburnian, Magnolia, Black-throated Blue and Green, Mourning and Yellow-rumped Warblers, plus Northern Waterthrush; Hermit and Swainson's Thrushes and Veerys; Alder Flycatcher; Vespers, Savannah and Grasshopper Sparrows; and great chances for Red Crossbill, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Common Raven and much more. We regularly have over 120 species for the week in this area, which has been covered every 5 years since 1948.

Cost for the whole week, all-inclusive, is only $200. You can register easily online at:
