To continue the nighthawk discussion, we've had all the normal
nighthawks in downtown Fairborn this year. Also, there is a nighthawk
that roosts on the utility wires above the intersection of New Germany
Trebein Road and North Fairfield Road in Beavercreek. He's guaranteed
to be there every summer day, sleeping peacefully as thousands of
motorists pass under him oblivious to his presence. I saw him there
yesterday in the midst of a severe thunderstorm. If you need a
nighthawk fix and live near Dayton, he'll be there until he heads
south. This bird has been there for at least the last five or six
summers. Presuming he's the same bird, he's living a long life. I'm
always thrilled to see him return each year.
