I don't see what the big deal was, we all have our own "angles" as far as birding--and just because one person's is different than your's doesn't make it wrong. I for one spend much more time when I'm out birding behind my camera instead of binoculars. I enjoy getting the pictures so that I can share with others later. Where as my sister is never without her binoculars, and often tells about the "lifer" she just spotted and wished she had her camera.

When Tracy shared her bats with everyone--I saw everyone getting excited and wanting to see (yes I did too but never managed and hope she'll share again next year) but it wasn't birding--so my question is this -- How does someone determined if or if not something is or isn't approperate?? And does anyone besides the list owner have the right to kick someone out because they think it's "not right" for this list. There are so many emails that I don't open them all, but they all general give enough information in the subject to determine if I open or delete.

My take on Tom's posts was that he was prepared to exchange his long
experience with photography for some education about birds, and I for
one was looking forward to that. If we cannot lure Tom back to give
us a second chance, of the birding world as a group to be emulated.
