On this note, I saw Ring billed gulls mobbing a mature Bald eagle at the
intersection of Rt 13 & 21st St. in Newark(Licking County) today not too
far from where the Eurasian widgeon was spotted a little while back.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Red-tailed Hawk mobbed in Cleveland Heights...

...not by crows, Blue Jays, ravens, blackbirds, or all the birds we
expect to do this, but by Ring-billed Gulls.

I had seen this before, but at the lakefront. This time it was in the
Severance shopping center in Cleveland Heights.

I saw a couple of gulls flying very fast and vocalizing a lot along
the internal road there, quite near me. Almost fell off the bike when
I realized the third bird, leading them--the quiet one--wasn't a
gull, but a hawk, and it wasn't leading them, but being chased. A
juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk, or sub-adult anyway...

Best wishes,

Steve Cagan
Cleveland Heights
