Hi,

Like the swallows of San Juan Capistrano who return on March 19th every
year, the Buzzards return to their roost in Hinckley Ohio on March 15th
every year. While this phenomena has been observed and documented for over
a century, the locals in Hinckley began celebrating this in 1957 and 2018
marks the 61st year. The celebration will, as is tradition, be on the first
Sunday following the 15th, so March 18th this year.

Many theories have been advanced as to why the Buzzards wait until the 15th
before returning to this roost. None have been proven, so this has just
become a matter of faith. As noted in other posts there are also extremely
rare Kreagles or Creagles that inhabit the Cleveland region, and these can
easily be mistaken for Buzzards by those not familiar with the species.

For those who have never attended the Buzzard Festival it is a good time
filled with pankegs, sausages and fun.
