At least two, more likely three, Yellow rails were calling at Irwin Prairie this morning. The pattern was the same as two days ago - I arrived just after 5:30 but did not hear them until just before 6:15. The Yellow rails called without a break for about ten minutes then more sporadically. They were again on the east side of Irwin Road but only about 100-125 yards north of Dorr Street.

Todd Haggard gets the credit for discovering a single bird Thursday evening, April 26.

Numerous Virginia rails and Soras are also present, and Wilson's snipes are very active in the predawn hours with their courtship displays.
