Proctorville Park:
FOY birds included Bank & Cliff Swallows and Chimney Swift.
Other birds of note were a Sora, Solitary Sandpiper (2), Bald Eagle, Osprey, Peregrine Falcon.
I was able to check of a new county species for myself this afternoon. FOY and, according to eBird, First County Record, Virginia Rail at the Abundant Life Church Pond in Proctorville.
I heard the bird let out a quick series of “grunt calls,” and nearly an hour later, I was able to get eyes on it. Nearby was another Sora, and had a Great Egret flyover.
In my backyard this evening, FOY Blue-headed Vireo.
I plan to hit a ridge in the morning in hopes of some warblers.
Good birding.
