The birding was real good for Ryan Golterman and me today.  We spent the morning at Mosquito L., starting off at the causeway.  Lots of birds there: Canada geese, mute swans, wood duck, gadwalls, Am. wigeon, Am. black ducks, mallards, n. pintails, canvasbacks, redheads, ring-necked ducks, greater scaup, lesser scaup, 8 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, buffleheads, c. goldeneyes, hooded merganser, common mergansers, red-breasted mergansers, ruddy ducks, 2 RED-NECKED GREBES, horned grebes, Am. coots, ring-billed gulls and herring gulls.  In Mosquito Wildlife Area we added n. harrier, bald eagle, pileated woodpecker, and Am. tree sparrows.  The roosting LONG-EARED OWL was seen along N. Park Ave. again.  We left Mosquito and headed towards Cleveland.  In Solon we saw 4 turkey vultures overhead.  We got to Scranton Rd.in the Cleveland flats in the early afternoon.  The Cuyahoga River was jammin' with birds there: canvasbacks, redheads, greater scaup, lesser scaup,
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, SURF SCOTER, common mergansers, red-breasted mergansers, ruddy ducks, RED-NECKED GREBE, Am. coots, the POMARINE JAEGER (it put on an awesome show!), 2 ICELAND GULLS, and 2 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS.  Craig Holt, Poland Twp.
