Yesterday (Jan 5) I participated in one section of the Geauga Christmas Bird Count with Dan Best, Kim Savides and Rachel McKinney. The coverage area was Rt 87 north to Wilson Mills, West to Rt 44 and East to Auburn Rd, basically in Munson and Newbury Townships including Walter Best Wildlife Preserve and Bass Lake Preserve and rural/semi-rural roads. Frozen lakes limited our waterfowl but we persevered.
We found most of the usual suspects but ONE MOCKINGBIRD on Sherman Rd between Auburn and BassLake.
Birds included:

Canada Goose 18
Mallard 13
Red Shouldered Hawk 2
Red-tailed Hawk 5
Herring Gull 8
Ring-billed Gull 7
Mourning Dove 2
Rock Dove 20

Hairy Woodpecker 2
Northern Flicker 1
Blue Jay 28

NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD 1
