***Black River**** Audubon Society Wetland Restoration Program*

** **

Wetlands are an important part of our eco system and many are on the
decline.****

Dan Martin, who recently retired after 20 years in March 2012 as Director
of the Lorain County Metro Parks (LCMP), will examine the impact of the
1984 federal law that stated “no net loss of wetlands” and how this law has
been implemented at the local level at his talk entitled “Wetland
Restoration and Land Acquisition in the Metro Parks” on October 2, 7 pm, at
Carlisle Reservation, 12882 Diagonal Road, in LaGrange.****

** **

Martin opened nine new parks in ****Lorain** **County**** that have
provided recreational, cultural, educational as well as environmental
opportunities for all.****

** **

During his leadership, the LCMP became and is the leading mitigation agent
in ****Ohio****, forming a partnership with five other counties to plan and
restore wetlands on a regional basis. Martin will also discuss the
diversity of wetlands in the park system.****

This program is free to the public and sponsored by the Black River Audubon
Society. For more information on programs, volunteer opportunities or
