Trevor Wearstler and I decided to hit the lakefront today. Noteworthy finds:
Eastlake had, aside from this year's standard collection:
Ring-necked Duck
Long-tailed Duck (being very uncooperative)
Black Scoter
Red-necked Grebe
We missed the Harlequin, but it was seen earlier and later in the day
Cleveland along the Cuyahoga at a Cleveland Metroparks restaurant whose name I forgot:
Nice assortment of diving ducks
Ruddy Duck
Pied-billed Grebe
Lorain Impound:
Snow Buntings
Common Redpolls (2 flocks)
Lapland Longspur (2 birds)
--aside, Trevor had seen the longspurs there last week, but unwittingly, on the OTHER side of the river, he said they were in a flock of about 20-30. We did not have time to search for this flock, but keep it in mind if you are searching the area.
Lorain Airport:
Frozen toes, 2 Horned Larks and NO Short-eared Owls. We were there from 5:15 or so until 6:30.
