Luckily we had a good-ish number of people come out for the birdwalk
this morning (Wed. mornings 8-9ish) at the Brown Fam. Enviro. Center
(BFEC), near Kenyon College, Gambier(just off of rt. 229). We stuck
mainly to the bikepath that goes thru the property, but spent some time
on the grounds as well. Pretty happening place, and upon my way home on
the nearby Lower Gambier Road I stopped to listen at an overgrown field
and heard a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT.

PHILADELPHIA VIREO - 1 had really pretty good looks plus heard it
singing quite a bit, pretty cool. FOY (first of year)
Blue-headed Vireo - 4 or more, singing as well plus good looks FOY
Yellow-throated Vireo - 4+ another apparently mated pair came in
Warbling Vireo - 3
White-eyed Vireo - heard, but we didn't feel like finding it (it
wouldn't have been hard, thanks to Birdpod)
Yellow-breasted Chat - 1 along road on way out (see above)
Yellow Warbler - many
Common Yellowthroat - 4+
Yellow-throated Warbler - 4
Northern Parula - 5 great looks
Hooded Warbler - heard only
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 4 or so, again great looks, FOY
Nashville Warbler - 8 singing and seen well
Black-throated Green Warbler- 6+
Black-and-White Warbler - 3
Louisianna Waterthrush - 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 10+
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - lots, I found 1 hop onto a nest.
Barn Swallow
Tree Swallow
Chimney Swifts
Rose-breasted Grossbeak - 3
Orchard Oriole - 1 male looks like the breeding bird is back on
territory
Wood Duck - 5 flybys
White - throated Sparrows - singing singing and very abundant right now
White - Crowned Sparrow - several singing
E. Towhees - 4
Belted Kingfisher - 1

I was surprised we didn't have many Scarlet Tanagers or Indigo
Buntings today, should be up in more numbers there soon.

thanks to everyone who came out, see you there next week Wed.
       Good Birding,
            - Ben Warner
