Temperate migrants were on the move in this riparian corridor southwest of
Columbus this morning.  I stopped at several spots in Battelle Darby
MetroPark and Prairie Oaks MetroPark, and had steady numbers of
Gnatcatchers, Kinglets, Thrashers, and early Warblers.  Highlights included:

Ring-necked Ducks - the last of the divers, small numbers were at the
Racetrack wetlands (north of Kuhlwein) and Darby Bend Lakes

Accipiters - Cooper's Hawks were at several spots, while a Sharp-shin was
at Sycamore Plains in Prairie Oaks

Sapsucker - only one was found, along Trail of the Ancients at Battelle
Darby

Swallows - Tree Swallows were common, but there were also small numbers of
Barns and Rough-wings at several spots

House Wrens - 2 were along Trail of the Ancients and the Terrace Trail at
Battelle Darby
Gnatcatchers - one of the most common birds, with 3-6 at nearly every stop

Kinglets - Ruby-cronws were common, with 4-9 at various stops.  Only a few
Golden-cronws were found, at the Terrace Trail and Nature Center of
Battelle Darby

Brown Thrashers - 1-2 were singing at nearly every stop

Parula Warbler - singing birds were at Cedar Ridge and Sycamore Plains

Yellow-throated Warblers - singing birds were at many locations, but never
more than 2

Yellow-rumped Warblers - modest numbers (3-6) at nearly every stop, often
singing

Louisiana Waterthrush - singing birds were at the Terrace Trail and Cedar
Ridge

Tree Sparrow - 1 very late individual was in the lower portion of the Trail
of the Ancients

Field Sparrows - they've arrived in bulk, with double-digits at many
locations

E.Towhee - another bird with good numbers, with 3-6 at most stops, while
the Terrace Trail had 8

White-throated Sparrows - small flocks in many locations

E.Meadowlarks - 3 birds were singing in the short-grass fields at the
entrance to Sycamore Plains
