Taking a cue from Dave Horn's fly-by Eurasian Collared Dove sighting (and workig a few nearby OBBA blocks), I nosed around S.Bloomfield and nearby Ashville looking for possible EUCO.  Lots of nice habitat, including a grain elevator and even a McDonalds, but no luck on the birds (otherwise I'd have posted earlier).  I even made cursory runs through nearby small towns (Little Walnut, Commercial Point, Duvall) with no success.  S.Bloomfield is by far the most likely place in the area, as it had 200-300 Mourning Doves scattered over many locations, with many flying around grainfields north, south, and west of town as well as a contingent perched on wires around the suburban houses in town.  It just highlights the ephemeral nature of EUCO sightings; singles of these birds move around a lot, and the one Dave saw may have been going out to a field for the day or may have been on its way out to other towns in searh of other collared doves.  We're probably lucky that he saw it.  S.Bl
 oomfield, however, probably merits further scrutiny over the next few months.
