The Black-tailed Gull was seen today (Thursday) about 1pm on the Ashtabula
River on the south side of the Rt 531 concrete bridge. Several birders who
waited all morning at Lake Shore Park quickly moved and all got great views.
The bird was on water-covered ice most of the time at the edge of large
groups of Ring-billed Gulls. It's tail looks just like the field guides -
wide black band followed by a small margin of white at the end. Beautiful!
It only took me 4 trips to Ashtabula to score!

I wonder how many people have seen this bird since it first arrived?
