I went to Denison Bio Reserve in the morning & the land lab in the afternoon. Given the gorgeous weather, it was impossible to stay inside.
The birding was relatively quiet. At Denison Bio reserve, a chat was perched up going through its repertoire which is always wonderful to watch and listen to. There were a couple of N Parulas singing which I haven’t heard for awhile. Other warblers were yellow, Com yellowthroats, Kentucky & Hooded.
Heard a couple YB Cuckoos.
FCs: GC, Peewee & Acadian
Vireos: White-eyed, Red-eyed, Yellow-thr
Wood Thrushes, E Bluebirds
Green Heron, Wood Ducks, Tree Swallow. Indigo Bunting.
Granville Land Lab
Quiet given it was afternoon but watched an E Kingbird pursue then finally grab a dragonfly over the pond. The dragonfly was quickly devoured.
Cedar Waxwings, more E Bluebirds & common yellowthroat. Barn Swallow and Northern Mockingbird. Killdeer.
A couple days ago I had both Orioles there: an adult male chasing an imm male and an adult male Baltimore. Also had a Tree Swallow dive bomb me as the trail took me toi close to its nest box.
