Greetings All,
Birding began today with Turkey's! A female turkey ran across the
road and disappeared into the woods. It could be heard off and on
all morning while I filled the bird feeders. A walk down the drive
provided me with a too close experience with 5 turkey vultures that
just happened to be roosting in a tall walnut tree. They are
enormous when you're that close and they're stretching their wings.
Hearing their wings flap is awesome.
A Baltimore Oriole circled the treetops singing which prompted me to
put up another feeder. Hummingbirds are here. There are at least
two males vying for the two feeders I put up earlier. That enormous
swallow house my father lovingly built as a Holiday gift is still
waiting to be put up and resting on the deck table. A wren has been
checking out all of the openings. Surely we'll have at least a wren
nesting. The phoebe's have given up their attempt to nest above the
garage light fixture for the fixture at the far end of the deck. I
still don't think they'll be happy there with all the human traffic.
It's a beautiful day here in Wakeman, Lorain County with exciting
birds.
        Happy birding,
Dorothy & Doug
