I birded around the 2 nearby dams, looking for migrants and strays. The
celebrity Kittiwake was putting on a nice show at Hoover Dam, resting on
the marina dock, then flying over to fish in the spillway. Watching it
dive under water for fish was cool. There was still plenty of action from
other species, with the best being:

Horned Grebes - 6 were above Alum Creek dam, while 9 were above Hoover Dam
Waterfowl - both spots had a few Hooded Mergansers, while Alum had 30+
Lesser Scaup and 8 Bufflehead
Coots - the flock of 200+ birds is still hanging around New Galena at Alum
Creek Lake
Gulls - Bonapartes were king at both spots, with 20+ at Alum and 70+ at
Hoover
Great Egret - less noticed by the kittiwake watchers was an egret along the
shore north of the marina.
BlueJays - still some movement at Alum, with 20+ birds flying south past
New Galena & the dam
E.Bluebirds - good movement at Alum, with 30 flying south in small flocks
over 90 minutes, past New Galena and the Dam.
HermitThrush - 1 was along the trails at New Galena at Alum Creek Lake
Kinglets - 1-2 Golden-crowns were at Alum, while 3-4 were below Hoover Dam
Sparrows - not much movement here, with the expected small #s of
White-throats and Songs at both spots. Hoover also had a Swamp Sparrow in
the spillway
