Joined Jay and Jack Stenger for an excellent trip to Brookville. The cranes are gone -
I still need for my Butler big year - hopefully some still heading north on
Migration. But the highlight was seeing the birding spots - and thousands of ducks!
Mainly Lesser Scaup, but Greater, Redhead, Ring-necked around. And White
Pelicans. RB Mergs. Etc.
I came home via Butler county. Nothing new at the Hueston Woods dam area.
I finally tracked down the American Wigeon - Seward Rd. Pond - in the back. First
Time I drove down back. I am always cautious around workers and construction
Areas. But no one there this late afternoon. Drake BW Teal is Foy. And a singing
Fox Sparrow at the bridge at the parking lot - Ellis wetlands - Firebird dr. Yea!
Good to have stuff singing. More detectable! The fields look great for birds.
Now how long will they stay that way - I heard construction of a new warehouse
On the fields….. sigh….. I didn’t realize that was private property. Sold to
Developers. Not good. The poor birds.
Monday is chase the Boreal day if reported on Sunday.
Good birding all.
