Paul K. joined me for an exploration here. I have been meaning to get out
east again from Cin. Still didn't have a full day! But we made the best of it.
This area was recommended to me. And now I see why! It's a nice, fairly
extensive marsh - swamp. Picked up 2 Snipe there. They flushed from
the edge of the dike we walked. Probably a lot more in the wet grassy areas.
Still lingering waterfowl - Wigeon, Ring-necked Ducks, Redheads.
I hope to get back here in mid April.
We hit a couple other spots without much. It is still early March!
I didn't see any Snipe yesterday at Fernald in Hamilton County. I was concerned.
I know thats a good spot. So todays were nice! Picked up RH Woodpecker
also there. New for the big year. I think.....And Brown!
I was on the Hamilton County parks woodcock walk last night. Switched
from Armleder - which I presume is open now - to Greenwood Gardens.
I am sure the Woodcock were flooded out of Armleder. I wonder when they
will return? If? Might take awhile. Anyway, the woodcock show was excellent!
Peenting and displaying at the pond area.
Nature notes - Spring Peepers and Chorus frogs vocalizing all over Indian
Creek. Still waiting on my first butterfly of the year.
Good birding all.
