I arrived at Pickerington Ponds m.p. around 7:00ish, and saw Bill Whan and Paul Gardner as they were leaving, and my parents and I got to enjoy watching the Lovely AM. AVOCETS in the setting sun. I was taking pics of them for a while and after a while there was a little commotion when about 8 Pectoral Sandpipers flew in from the west, I was checking them out and never noticed the departure of the 4 avocets. I turned to refind them but they were gone. It was about 8:30pm I believe. At sunset there were several other birders who showed up looking and were still there when I left, I"m not sure the avocets ever returned or not. I'm headed there again in the morning to see whats new, watch for a posting around noonish. Or I'll make a call if there's something good around.

other shorebirds present: decent numbers (40ish) of Least sandpipers, at least one Semipalmated Sandpiper, Good numbers of Greater and lesser Yellowlegs, Semipalmated Plover, Pecs, Solitary Sandpipers, Spotted Sandpipers and Killdeer.?

Earlier today I made a trek up to Ottawa W.A. and hiked back out to the impoundment 2A, and 2B etc. It was a long walk for not very much action. I really should remember to bring a bicycle if I do that again. Highlights were assorted Least and Semipalm Sandpipers, Semipalm Plover, both Yellowlegs, 4 Snowy Egrets, and about 4 Longbilled Dowitchers looking nice and chunky next to the Short-billed Dowitchers, nice when they make it easier for me. Baby Pied-billed Grebes were also a fun sighting.?

Good Birding, Ben Warner
