I just missed the bird when I first arrived around 10:30am, glimpsing it just as it flew off the platform feeder. It was a chilly hour or so before it showed up again but it was worth the wait. The bird perched at the top of a spruce left of the feeders, then made its way in steps to the platform feeder, preening & posing.
It stayed in view for quite a while and fed a couple times, always at the platform feeder. Beautiful adult male.
Also saw one Red-breasted Nuthatch, a Yellow-rumped warbler, E Towhee along with the expected juncos, house finches, goldfinches and Cardinals. The Blue Jays were doing all sorts of interesting calls.
There is also a pair of Cooper’s Hawk not far from the feeders so I hope the Evening Grosbeak will survive those.
