This morning, in my own yard, grackles, redwinged blackbirds and
a sole cowbird showed up.  When I went to Frohring this afternoon I
found three rusties.  (Small contribution to the rusty
blackbird blitz.)  They were pecking around in the still 
largely frozen marsh area.

In the meadows,  killdeer, 5 meadowlarks, two horned larks and a
small flock of am. pipits.

Looking for a place to land, and giving up after making a few
passes, 6 pintails and two mallards.

Quite a few Turkey Vultures in the air, and a red tailed hawk
carrying a long twig to it’s nest site. Several pairs of blue birds
were checking out the boxes.

Dick Hoopes was with me for most of my walk, but he arrived
after I saw the pipits we didn’t relocate them.  I think they
had lifted up and flown off over the trees.
