I hiked in South Chagrin Reservation this morning (eastern Cuyahoga County). I heard some hooded warblers and Acadian flycatchers, and saw a broad-winged hawk between Suphur Springs picnic area and the LookAbout Lodge. This has been a good area for all three of these birds in the past. Plenty of red-eyed vireos, too.
On the trail south of the Suphur Springs picnic area I had two hermit thrushes come check me out as I stood on the path. One kept landing on the ground about six feet from my feet. The other perched low on trees along the trail. I don’t know what was going on with them; but, it was nice to see them up-close like that. (Maybe they were trying to get a good ID for their eHuman list.)
I also saw two very vocal great crested flycatchers near the Arboretum.
