I spent the morning visiting spots along the far western edge of Franklin County (central Ohio - Columbus), checking for held up early migrant waterfowl, pipits, larks, etc. I stopped at several spots around Prairie Oaks MetroPark, as well as areas around Amlin (Heritage Rail Trail, Darree Fields Park). Despite the extensive snow cover, winter field birds were scarce. Open water was even scarcer, so waterfowl were very limited. Notables included:

Redheads - a small group of 10 was in one of the few open ponds along Cosgray Rd
Cooper's Hawk - only 1, a bird at Heritage Rail Trail
BrownCreepers - 1 was at Sycamore Plains in Prairie Oaks, another 2 were at Darby Bend Lakes in the same area
Mockingbird - 1 bird was trying to defend a berry bush along Darby Creek at Sycamore Plains Trail
Horned Larks - a flock of 15 was along the road at Darby Bend Lakes, but there were few others elsewhere
Lapland Longspur - only 1 bird, a fly-by at Darby Bend Lakes
Sparrows - call it the Power of Prairie, but a tiny patch of planted prairie at Darree Fields held the best sparrow flock, with 26 Tree Sparrows, 3 Songs, 2 Juncos, and 1 Swamp Sparrow. Elsewhere, I only ran across occasional birds.
