This location is not open to the public but Adam and I enjoyed 30 minutes of
pure joy watching a flock (12) of WWCB's feeding, mostly on the ground, in a
small grove of White Pines (Picnic area 5).  Here are some of his pictures,
most of which were only 10 feet away while he sat on the ground leaning
against a tree.

were picking up pine cones and turning them around to explore for seeds!
Notice the one female holding the cone while it extracts a seed!  In another
shot a male is grasping a twig, almost like the was going to move it!



The birds eventually flew up into the trees and we left the area for about
30 minutes.  When we returned they were feeding at tree-top level.
