Considering how many crows were wiped out within weeks when West Nile hit the city several years ago, this is encouraging news. I'm beginning to see some signs of recovery in the Cleveland area, but at least in the East Side inner ring suburbs and the city itself the numbers are still far below the pre-West Nile average. In my neighborhood we lost all our crows in just a matter of weeks and they have yet to become re-established. I have to go out in the country to see normal numbers of them. Thanks for the welcome news, Karen.

Subject: city crows

I'm new to this listserv and this post is a couple of days late but I thought it worth noting the huge
flock of crows I saw Monday evening ~5:30 PM while traveling west on Ohio 17 in Maple Heights, a
suburb of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County. I live in the "country", in Geauga County, so flocks of crows
numbering several hundred are not something I've experienced. I watched in awe as the crows circled
around a few large trees preparing to roost for the night . Wow!
