Mary C and I spent a few hours in Warren. Working on my county list.
RB Nuthatch, Lincoln’s sparrow. No. But a lingering Cape May was a
County bird! This was Spring Valley. We had a nice migrant flock along
That western path. Where it enters the woods again. We couldn’t find
The boardwalk. Thoughts on that? Gone? We didn't walk far enough?
No shorebirds at south beach - Caesar creek. Just the usual gulls, someday
I will get Franklins for the county. A nice surprise was a young male
Red breasted Merg. County bird! And maybe an Oct bird. I’ll check my
Excel chart tonight. And also rock pigeon….. that was a surprise flyover
There. I was thinking I would need to hit a town in Warren someday soon.
I keep missing chimney swift. Next spring!
Hit Lake Barber in Hamilton county on our way home. One pb grebe.
Lots at Spring Valley. I figure I need to keep hitting here for my missing
Hamilton birds. I plugged in Oct - nov. Hamilton life. Top 5 -
Short eared owl, tundra swan, Nelson’s sparrow, bobolink, ww crossbill??!!
Gee, crossbill before Herring gull!? That’s number 10…..
Nature notes - we saw some insects as the temps warmed in the sun.
Good birding all.
