The unpredictability of early spring has become my favorite time to pay attention in the yard.  This spring was the first time bluebirds and flickers have ever come to our suet feeder.  Had an Easter morning yardbird first with a Swamp Sparrow in the brush pile and a pair of Wood Ducks finding a hole about 60 feet up a large oak above our house.  Chipping sparrow returned yesterday.   Lincoln's sparrow is the next surprise I'm predicting.
