I had been meaning to check out Glen Rest Cemetery on Main Street on the east side of Reynoldsburg, which is not far from our new home, but just hadn't gotten around to it. It took Robert Thorn's prompt about Merlins and cemeteries to get me there. Drove through the cemetery about 3:00 this afternoon, starting at the east end and working my way west. Found a Cooper's Hawk. Kept going all the way to the east end--and sure enough, there was a Merlin. Swooped in and landed on the topmost perch of a pine tree. Then made a whirling swirling flight out over an open area and onto the topmost perch of a tree farther down the road. The trees at Glen Rest are fairly sparse, so visibility is excellent. Thanks, Robert!
