After turning west onto Wilderness Road from Elyria Road and passing by the house on the corner, start looking on the right (north side) side of the road (side without telephone poles). Bird hanging out low in one of two tall black cherry trees in the middle of the field. Sits on dead limb 5 feet above ground on left tree. Spends much time out of sight catching grasshoppers. Sept. 5 - 8:30-10 a.m.
A beautiful morning to be at the park. Here's our sightings:
Bald eagles - 1 almost fully mature (4th yr.) & 2 immatures
Osprey
Great egrets - 26
Great blue herons--many, many
Green herons - 5
Belted kingfishers - 6 ( at least 2 female)
DC cormorants - approx. 30
Wood ducks - many, many
Mallards - lots and lots
Canada geese - 4
Lesser yellowlegs - 4
Greater yellowlegs - 1
Solitary sp - 2
Semipalmated sp - 1
Killdeers - 30
Ring-billed gulls
Eastern phoebes - 2
Eastern pewees
Coopers hawks - 2
Cedar waxwings - 12
AMOTUS (And Most of the Usual Stuff)
