Early migration was minimal around this reservoir northwest of Columbus
yesterday. I stopped at Traphagen Preserve, Area P, the Home Rd bridge,
and the dam, as well as down the gorge at Amberleigh Park, Coventry Woods
Park, and Kozcuiscko Park. Water level was high here, so no shorebirds,
but it was low enough for egrets and herons at several spots. Notables
included:

Great Egrets - at many locations, with 5 at Area P the high
Vultures - flocks at several spots, but none larger than 20 birds, all TVs
cuckoo - one calling Yellow-billed was at Area P
Owls - a Barred was at Koz Park, while Traphagen had a Great Horned
Flycatchers - Pewees widely scattered; still some Acadians at Koz Park and
Coventry Woods
Swallows - Barn Swallows were scattered over many sites, while the dam
still had a flock of 10 Cliff Swallows
Gnatcatchers - true to form, the only 'flock' was 3 early at Koz Park; as
the morning wore on, these smallest migrants vanished into the foliage at
later sites
Warblers - hardly any, with only Yellows and ComYellowthroats, and few of
them
Orioles - small groups of Baltimores along the reservoir shore, with 4 at
Area P and 2 near the Home Rd bridge
