Hi all-
On Wednesday afternoon, I was able to find (after 1 hour search) the LeConte's Sparrow at the Old Coliseum site in Richfield--north of Akron. This is the bird Jen Brumfield and Gabe Leidy found the other day. What a beautiful bird! This was a life bird for me and that bird made me WORK for it. Searched for 1 hour--finally flushed it--followed it for 15 minutes until I finally got a good 5 minute look. Lost it, followed it again for 1/2 hour, then gave up. When this bird flushes-it flies very close to the tops of the plants making it hard to follow. I got a few semi-decent photos. BE WARNED--if you go to hunt for this bird--this area IS NOT AN EASY WALK!!! There are no real trails--the weeds are waist high or higher, there are ruts and bumps that you can't see, and BIG spiders.
