Not a complete surprise, but noteworthy because of how seldom I see them
here at our farm on Flint Ridge, a single red-breasted nuthatch is gracing
our feeders this afternoon, both the suet and the sunflower.
We have oodles of white-breasted nuthatches, Carolina chickadees and tufted
titmice galore, plus six species of woodpeckers. But we have no conifers.
So I very rarely see RBNH here. The last one was five years ago, also
November. Probably just moving through, although perfectly welcome to
linger a while.
