as foretold by several folks, Friday 4/13 was fantastic for birds in
downtown Cleveland. day began auspiciously with 2 yellow bellied sapsuckers
in our suburban Akron yard. we never had more than 1 before, and then only
briefly; yesterday one stayed in our sugar maple for 1 1/2 hr. then we
were off to Erie St Cemetery for a 75 deg early afternoon, followed by mid
afternoon at 53 deg (!) Wendy Park, back to 65 deg Erie St, and home to 82
deg Akron for dinner. you need layers when going to the lake! 53 species
in all. make that 66 different species when including Thursday's Akron
area lakes.

highlights: Erie St: numerous sapsuckers (one female), flickers, golden
crowned kinglets, phoebes, woodcocks. seen at Wendy Park but not at Erie
St: wood thrush, thrasher, Lincoln's sparrow, mockingbird, killdeer.
