I hiked the Marie Hickey Trail this morning and birded mostly by ear given the fully-leafed out trees. Birds were singing some but staying mostly out of sight, nesting I presume. Nothing out of the ordinary but a decent assortment of birds & a peaceful walk.
Warblers
Blue-winged—the only warbler I actually saw on the trail!
Am Redstart
Com YT (heard but seen later by the road to the fishing area)
Prairie
Cerulean
N Parula
Ovenbird
Black & White
Chestnut-sided
Kentucky
Vireos
White-eyed
Red-eyed
FCs
Acadian
Least
Great-crested
Wood Thrush
Scarlet Tanager
Indigo Bunting
Road to fishing area across from main parking area for the gorge. (I skipped walking the paved trail d/t the high number of cars in the lot.)
Yellow Warbler (also had Com YT & Ceruleans here)
BG Gnatcatcher
WB Nuthatch
Wood Duck hen with 8! Ducklings
Trumpeter Swan (swan went over to the log they were all sunning on & the whole Duck family made a hasty retreat)
Great Blue Heron
A few Chimney Swifts over the bike trail this evening in Granville and Baltimore Orioles.
