One of the perks of helping out with Black Swamp Bird Observatory's Spring
Raptor Migration Survey is a front-row seat to the general movement of birds
through the area.  I spent a few hours at Pickerel Creek today and, besides
the light raptor movement of mostly Turkey Vultures and Red-tailed Hawks, I
thoroughly enjoyed also seeing:

Sandhill Crane - 1, my second in two days, it circled and landed just north
of the observation deck and then melted into the vegetation
Great Egrets - at least 7
Lesser Yellowlegs - 3, landed across the street in a field puddle
Blue-Winged Teal - among the No. Pintail, Amer. Wigeon, Green-winged Teal,
Gadwall, No. Shovelers 
Tree Swallows
Killdeer
Song Sparrows in song

Spring may really be here!   There also was a lot of activity among the
resident immature Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks.  Thanks to Al, who
stopped in and helped pick up a few of the raptors with me.
