The loon is still on the pond in Avon Lake. The golf course has
strung up a gauntlet of fishing lines
over the pond to try to keep out birds so the loon is now most
definitely trapped.

I called several places including the Medina County Raptor Center and
found out I should call the Lorain County wildlife officer. He
visited the pond on Saturday and instructed them to remove the
fishing lines. So far it hasn't happened. I understand he is going
to try to rescue the bird this week. Hopefully there
are still plenty of fish in the pond. I see the bird less often when
I go by there. It seems to be underwater more and more.
A couple of times I was convinced it had left because I couldn't see
the bird when I went by. Now I have to wait around for the bird to
appear from one of its dives.
If you drive by and don't see it you need to stop a while and wait
for it to surface.

Ideas on catching the bird are welcome. Draining the pond should do
the trick but is probably out of the question. It is 25 feet deep.
