I biked around the Tall Pines area at Walnut Woods today, looking for early seed migrants. To those unfamiliar with it, this area south of Groveport (a south Columbus suburb) was an old nursery for Columbus parks, and has both a large stand of pines and a big spread of spruce trees. It's a likely good trap for birds like finches, crossbills, and Red-br.Nuthatches, and there were definitely 2 of the latter there today. Couple this with the earlier RBNU that I had at Alum Creek Lake, and it appears that these little guys are moving early this year.
