I was on Rt 95 just west of Blachleyville in the Funk Bottoms area this
morning about 9am. Several of us saw a Eurasian wigeon on the south side of
the road very well among the many waterfowl and Am. wigeon there. I hear it
had been reported there the last two days. It was about halfway across the
flat bottoms there fairly close to the road. Unfortunately, two eagles flew
over and the ducks scattered. I doubt it left the area because most of them
came back down, but it was not visible in the same spot.
In addition, the following and estimated numbers were there:
Tundra swan - 65
Canada goose - many
Mallard - 20
Pintail - 500+
Green-winged teal - 100+
Am. wigeon - 250+
Eurasian wigeon - 1!!
Shoveler - 10
Ring-neck duck - 4
Ring-billed gull - 10
