I birded at Magee on the boardwalk and towards Crane Creek estuary from 8am
to 3pm today, with shorter visits to Ottawa, including Boss Unit just
south, and Metzger Marsh from 3-5pm. The day started out pretty slow, but
it was cloudy all day and it seemed there were possibly greater numbers in
the early afternoon. Though there were certainly not large numbers of
warblers and other migrants, there were pockets of good activity. I was
able to see 22 species of warblers, which included:
Tennessee (2)
Nashville (8)
N. Parula (10)
Yellow (many)
Chestnut-sided (6)
Magnolia (8)
Cape May (2)
Black-throated blue (5)
Yellow-rumped (5)
Black-throated green (5)
Blackburnian (4)
Palm (8)
Bay-breasted (4)
Blackpoll (1)
Black and white (5)
Am. Redstart (5)
Prothonotary (6)
Mourning (1)
Com yellowthroat (2)
Hooded (1)
Wilson's (2)
Canada (1)

I also heard several N. waterthrush, but never saw one. Others reported
ovenbird and there was a Kirtland's seen.

Other noteworthy birds were:
Four willets at Metzger Marsh
Horned grebe in breeding plumage at Ottawa hdqts pool
Snowy egret at Ottawa entrance ponds
Both cuckoos seen (I only saw black-billed)
Large numbers of blue jays flying east all day
Lots of Baltimore orioles singing all day
Very few vireos and thrushes.
